Here’s how to make our ultimate House guacamole
It may be the reason that no one under 30 can afford to buy a house anymore (who needs a first home when you’ve got brunch?), but we’ll always have a soft spot for avocado. And as we all know, the superlative iteration of this fruit (yes, it’s a fruit) is guacamole.
Obviously, you don’t need an excuse to whip up a batch, but as it’s National Guacamole Day there’s never been a better one. And lucky for you, we have the definitive recipe, courtesy of Maya, the pop-up-turned-permanent restaurant found in our Houses all over the world.
Best enjoyed with a Margarita in the living room of a flat that you’ll never afford to own.
Ingredients
2 ripe avocados
1 ½ tsp onion, diced
1 ½ tsp tomatoes, diced
1 tsp coriander, chopped
2 limes, juiced
Chopped jalapeno (added to taste)
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Optional: roasted corn, Cotija cheese, pomegranate seeds
Method
1. Mash all of the ingredients together in a molcajete or with a pestle and mortar, and taste for seasoning.
2. Serve with totopos (aka tortilla chips) or crudites for dipping.
