Artist in residence: Cleo Wade
Looking for a moment of calm amidst the hysteria of social-media chatter? Craving something inspiring and insightful, not eye-roll inducing? Us too. Luckily, Cleo Wade is coming to the rescue (just don’t ask her to sing)…
Cleo Wade is an artist, poet and activist for gender and race equality who is committed to spreading love through social media. Cleo has created large-scale public art works, is a founding member of the female arts collective Chez Conversations and supports Free Arts, the non-profit creating arts programmes for New York City’s underserved children. She also sits on the Creative Council of Emily’s List and the board of the National Black Theater in Harlem, and has a book, collection of prints and more art installations on the way. In between all of that (and creating an exclusive print for Farfetch and Five Story, with 100% of proceeds going to war survivors charity Women For Women), she found time to talk to us about storytelling, feeling alone and why we should all be feminists.
